BLS is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. The AHA’s BLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC). This video-based, Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings.
This course is only intended for prospective instructors who already possess a valid BLS Provider certification. Upon completion, as an instructor, you will be able to host CPR, First Aid and BLS Provider classes. Please carefully read the bulleted details below before proceeding with registration.
- The cost of the course includes course materials, post-course monitoring and your instructor card.
- The course cost includes a $75.00 deposit. You have 14 days prior to the course date to cancel the course without penalty. After the 14 day mark, your course cost will be refunded, less the deposit to cover materials and electronic courses that have already been purchased and allocated.
- At the end of the class, you will be required to complete a written test, with a passing score of 80%.
- Upon registration, you will recieve an electronic keycode to take your BLS Instructor Essentials course online through the American Heart Associations learning portal. You MUST complete this course and bring your Certificate of Completion with you to class, or e-mail/bring a screen shot of the certificate.

The BLS Instructor Manual includes essential information and Lesson Plans that AHA BLS Instructors need to teach BLS courses, including the full classroom and the blended learning versions.
